Roles
A listing has one owner (the WordPress post_author) plus any number of managers and staff granted access to that specific listing. Managers and staff can edit the listing and answer its chats in the app; managers additionally can invite/manage staff and send push notifications when enabled.
Give the Manager and Staff roles friendly display names on the settings page → Roles tab, and set the WordPress role assigned to newly invited members with Role for new staff members.
Adding crew in WordPress admin
On any listing’s edit screen there is a Staff & Managers meta box:
- Search for a user (the box uses an admin-only, nonce-gated user search).
- Assign them as a manager or staff member.
- Save the listing.
Grants are stored per listing and checked by mam_user_can_edit_post_wpbdp_listing, so a manager/staff member gains edit rights to exactly that listing.
Inviting crew from the app
Owners and managers use the in-app Edit Staff button (see Listing tab bar buttons) to invite by email. Invites run through mam-main’s app-user invite lifecycle:
- Invited users receive the
business-directory-staff-invitationpush/email with a code. - On acceptance the member gets listing access and appears under “My Venues.”
- The per-plan Number of Staff Members limit applies (from the fee plan’s
extra_data['mam']; default 5).
Chat group sync
When a staff invite is accepted, the member is added to the listing’s chat group; when revoked, they are removed. This is wired off mam-main’s real invite lifecycle actions (mam_app_user_invite_accepted / _revoked) and only runs when MAM Chat Manager is active. The chat group tracks app-user post ids, so the WordPress user is resolved to its app-user post first.
