My listings/deals/events aren’t showing in the app

Your MAM app doesn’t keep its own copy of listings, deals, or events — it reads them straight from your WordPress site every time it loads. Each content type comes from a specific WordPress plugin, and a section only appears in the app when two things are true: the supporting plugin is active, and there’s published content for it to show. When a section turns up empty, it’s almost always one of those two.

Here’s how to check each layer, working from WordPress outward to the app.

Goal

Get your listings, deals, and events showing up in the app’s content feed once you’ve added them on your WordPress site.

Before you start

You will need:

  • Administrator access to the WordPress site that powers the app (the Mobile App Manager menu is visible).
  • The MAM Previewer app, or a published build, on a device so you can re-check after each change.
  • A rough idea of which content type is missing — listings, deals, or events — since each maps to a different plugin.

It helps to know how the three content types map to plugins first. Each one has a source plugin — where you actually create the content — and, in most cases, a MAM bridge plugin that connects that content to the app:

Content type in the app Source plugin (where you create it) MAM bridge plugin
Listings / Places GeoDirectory MAM GeoDirectory
Events GeoDirectory Events (GD Events) MAM GeoDirectory
Deals / Special Offers MAM Special Offers (offers attach to a listing or product) MAM Special Offers

Not sure which plugins your app expects? The App Setup Wizard (under the Mobile App Manager menu) will tell you. Its welcome step reports whether GeoDirectory is active, and offers a one-click install for the MAM GeoDirectory bridge if it’s missing. Its App Navigation step does the same for MAM Special Offers (Deals) and GeoDirectory Events, with an install-and-activate button for whichever supporting plugin isn’t there yet.

Steps

1. Confirm the supporting plugin is installed and active

Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins in WordPress and confirm the relevant plugins from the table above are present and Active.

The most common trap is having only one plugin in a pair active. For listings and events, both GeoDirectory (the source) and MAM GeoDirectory (the bridge) need to be active. If only GeoDirectory is running, your listings exist on the website just fine — but nothing connects them to the app, so the section stays empty. The same goes for GD Events (events) and MAM Special Offers (deals).

If a MAM bridge plugin is installed but its underlying plugin is missing or deactivated, the bridge just quietly does nothing — it won’t throw an error. So an empty section with no warning is exactly what you’d expect in that case. Activate the missing piece, then move on.

2. Confirm you have published content

The app only counts published posts — drafts, pending, and scheduled items won’t appear in the general feed.

  • Listings: Head to your GeoDirectory listings (for example, Places) and confirm at least one is published. The App Setup Wizard’s welcome screen reports a live count too — “We found N GeoDirectory listings on your site” — an easy way to confirm the app can actually see them. A count of zero means there’s nothing yet for the listings feed to show.
  • Events: Confirm you have published GD Events. An event with no upcoming dates, or one still sitting in draft, won’t surface the way a published, upcoming event will.
  • Deals: Deals (Special Offers) aren’t created from their own menu — they’re created from a listing’s edit screen. Open the parent listing, fill in an offer slot under the Special Offers section, and save. An offer only shows once it’s published and its dates are current — one whose end date has passed drops out automatically.

Note on visibility: pending and draft listings are visible only to the listing’s author and to administrators. So if a listing looks fine to you as an admin but regular app users can’t see it, that’s the first thing to check — make sure its status is actually Published, not pending or draft.

3. Confirm the section is turned on in the app’s navigation

A content type can be working perfectly on the WordPress side and still be missing from the app for a simple reason: nothing points to it — no tab, no menu item.

In the App Setup Wizard → App Navigation step (or in the App Settings Manager), confirm there’s a tab or menu entry for the content type you’re expecting — a Deals tab, an Events tab, whatever applies. The wizard’s navigation step will also prompt you to install the supporting plugin for Deals or Events if it notices the tab has nothing behind it.

4. Refresh the app and re-check

The app fetches content fresh from WordPress every time it loads, so changes on the website show up on the next load — there’s no separate “publish to app” step. After making a change:

  1. Fully close and reopen the app (or reload the content in the Previewer).
  2. Check the content feed again.

Same goes for anything you publish later — new listings show up in the app automatically on the next load, and so do edits to existing content.

5. If it is still empty, narrow it down

Still empty after all that? Time to isolate the layer:

  • Does the content appear on the website front end (or in the relevant admin list as Published)? If not, the problem is on the WordPress content side — finish creating and publishing the content first.
  • Is the content there on the website but missing in the app? Re-check step 1 (both plugins active) and step 3 (a tab points to it). A missing bridge plugin is the single most common cause.
  • Only one content type missing while the others work fine? That points squarely at that type’s plugin pair or its published-content count — not at the app as a whole.
  • Plugin: mam-geodirectory — how listings and events flow from GeoDirectory into the app.
  • Plugin: mam-special-offers — how deals are created on a listing and where they surface in the app.
  • Recipe: Add a special offer to a listing — the exact steps to create a deal.
  • Content type: GeoDirectory list and map — the listings surfaces in the app.

What’s next

Once your content is showing up, there’s more you can do with it: turn on GeoFilters so users can filter listings by location, tune the listing detail layout and tab bar buttons, and set up push notifications for new listings or events. Check the App Settings Manager and the related plugin reference articles for the how-to.
