Install the required content plugins (GeoDirectory, Events, Special Offers)

Your MAM Suite app doesn’t invent its own content — it mirrors the listings, events, and deals you already manage in WordPress. Before the rest of the App Setup Wizard can build something meaningful for you, the plugins that supply that content need to be installed and active.

In this tutorial, you’ll use the wizard’s one-click Install / Activate buttons to add three content sources:

  • GeoDirectory — the directory of listings (“Places”) your app is built around.
  • MAM GeoDirectory — the bridge that connects your GeoDirectory listings to the app.
  • GeoDirectory Events and MAM Special Offers — optional add-ons that power the Events and Deals tabs.

By the end, the wizard will show each plugin as installed, every wizard step will unlock, and your app will have real content to preview.

Prerequisites

  • You are signed in to WordPress as an administrator (you need the install plugins and activate plugins capabilities — the wizard checks both before installing anything).
  • MAM Main is installed and active. The App Setup Wizard lives inside MAM Main.
  • You can reach the wizard from the Mobile App Mgr menu in your WordPress admin sidebar — on a new install, opening that menu sends you straight into the App Setup Wizard. You can also go directly to the admin URL admin.php?page=mam-setup-wizard&wizard=mam_main_welcome_onboarding. If you dismissed the setup reminder earlier, that URL reopens the wizard anytime.

Note: GeoDirectory is the one prerequisite the wizard won’t install for you in its first step. Until GeoDirectory is active, the wizard shows only its Welcome screen and a list of supported plugins. The steps below assume GeoDirectory is already installed and active — that’s the standard MAM Suite starting point. If it isn’t active yet, install and activate GeoDirectory from the normal WordPress Plugins screen first, then come back here.

What you’ll have at the end

A wizard that recognizes all of your content plugins as Installed, with the Home Screen, Navigation, Branding, App Previewer, and Next Steps steps all available — and listings, events, and deals ready to flow into your app.

Steps

1. Open the wizard and confirm GeoDirectory is detected

Open the App Setup Wizard from the Mobile App Mgr menu. On the Welcome step, if GeoDirectory is already active, you’ll see a confirmation heading: “Great news! GeoDirectory is installed and active.”

The wizard also counts your existing listings. If you already have some, it tells you how many it found and lets you know they’ll appear in your app’s content feed automatically. Don’t have any yet? That’s fine — you can still finish the wizard and preview the app; content will show up once you add listings.

2. Install the MAM GeoDirectory bridge

GeoDirectory holds your listings, but MAM GeoDirectory is what makes them appear in the app. On the Welcome step, find the button labeled Install MAM GeoDirectory Plugin and click it.

The wizard downloads, extracts, and activates the plugin in one action — there’s no separate “activate” step, and you won’t be redirected to the WordPress Plugins screen. A blue Processing… bar appears while this runs. When it’s done, the button is replaced by a MAM GeoDirectory is installed label.

If the button is already a MAM GeoDirectory is installed label, this plugin is done — skip to the next step.

3. Continue to the Navigation step

With MAM GeoDirectory installed, the Next Step: Set Up Your Home Screen → button lights up. Click through the Home Screen step (pick a layout) until you reach the App Navigation step, where the remaining content plugins are offered.

The Events and Deals install buttons live on the App Navigation step, not the Welcome step — that’s by design, since those tabs only make sense once you’re arranging your app’s navigation.

4. Install GeoDirectory Events (for the Events tab)

On the App Navigation step, look for the note: “To include Deals or Events in your app, the supporting plugin needs to be installed. Click a button below to install and activate it.” Below it are two install buttons.

Click Install GeoDirectory Events Plugin. As before, the wizard installs and activates it in one click and shows the Processing… bar. Once it’s done, the button becomes a GeoDirectory Events is installed label, and your Events tab can start drawing from your GeoDirectory event listings.

5. Install MAM Special Offers (for the Deals tab)

Next to the Events button, click Install MAM Special Offers Plugin — this is the content source behind your app’s Deals tab. When it finishes, the button becomes a MAM Special Offers is installed label.

Both buttons are optional. If your app doesn’t need an Events or Deals tab, just leave the corresponding plugin uninstalled and skip adding that tab to your navigation.

6. Verify everything is installed

You’re done once the wizard shows all three as installed:

  • Welcome step: MAM GeoDirectory is installed
  • App Navigation step: GeoDirectory Events is installed and MAM Special Offers is installed

If any still shows an Install … button, click it and wait for the Processing… bar to clear. If an install fails (for example, Download failed or Insufficient permissions), double-check that your admin account has plugin-install rights and that your server can reach the MAM download endpoint, then try again.

What’s next

With your content plugins in place, you’re ready to continue through the wizard:

  • Home Screen — choose one of the three starter layouts.
  • App Navigation — name, reorder, and toggle the tabs (Home is fixed; Deals, Map, Events, and Favorites are arrangeable).
  • Colors and Branding — set your light and dark theme colors.
  • App Previewer — scan the QR codes to load your live content in the WP Mobile App Manager Previewer app.

After the wizard, you can come back and refine any of these choices anytime under Mobile App Mgr → App Settings.
