The bottom navigation bar is the row of tabs at the bottom of your mobile app — the controls your users tap to jump between Home, the map, deals, events, and their favorites. Here you’ll use the App Navigation step of the MAM Setup Wizard to choose which tabs show up, rename them, and put them in whatever order makes sense for your app. By the end, you’ll have a tab bar that reflects your content, with your choices saved and already applied to your app.

This step takes just a few minutes, no code required — and nothing here is permanent. You can always come back to the wizard, or fine-tune things later in the App Settings Manager.

What you’ll have at the end

• A bottom navigation bar with the tabs you want, in the order you want them
• Tabs renamed to match your app’s wording (for example, “Deals” renamed to “Specials”)
• Your navigation choices saved and pushed into your app’s settings

Prerequisites

• You are signed in to WordPress as an administrator (you have the manage_options capability).
• GeoDirectory is installed and active. The full wizard — including the App Navigation step — only appears once a supported core plugin is active. If GeoDirectory is not active, the wizard stops at the Welcome step and prompts you to set it up first.
• You have completed, or at least reached, the Home Screen Setup step. App Navigation is the step immediately after it.
• Optional but recommended: if you want a Deals tab, install and activate MAM Special Offers; if you want an Events tab, install and activate GeoDirectory Events. The wizard provides install buttons for both right inside the navigation step, so you can do this as you go.

Steps

1. Open the App Navigation step

Open the MAM Setup Wizard in your WordPress admin and step forward to App Navigation. Coming from the previous step? Click Next Step: Configure App Navigation → on the Home Screen screen. If you stepped away from the wizard earlier, you can pick it back up from the setup reminder notice or the wizard menu, then continue forward to App Navigation.

You’ll land on a two-column screen titled Configure Your App Navigation. The left column holds your editable list of tabs; the right column shows a sample preview image so you can picture how it’ll look. (It’s just a representative sample, not a live render — you’ll see your actual app in the App Previewer step.)

2. Review the tab list

The left column lists every tab that can appear in your bottom navigation bar. Here’s what you’ll see by default:

• Home (locked) — always the first tab, marked with a lock icon. You cannot rename, move, or remove it.
• Deals — special offers (requires MAM Special Offers).
• Map — a map of your listings.
• Events — your GeoDirectory event listings (requires GeoDirectory Events).
• Favorites — the listings a user has saved.

Each editable tab comes with a checkbox, an icon, an editable title field, and a drag handle (☰). The Home tab shows a lock (🔒) instead, since its position is fixed.

The checkbox is what decides whether a tab shows up in your app — leave it checked to include the tab, uncheck it to leave it out. Home is always included, and Deals and Events start out unchecked until you’ve installed their supporting plugin.

3. Rename a tab

Want different wording under a tab? Click into that tab’s title field and type the new name — for example, change Deals to Specials, or Favorites to Saved.

Your change saves itself the moment you click out of the field — there’s no separate Save button to hunt for. The Home title is the one exception: it’s read-only and can’t be changed here.

4. Reorder the tabs

To change the order tabs appear in the bar, drag a tab by its handle (☰) and drop it where you want it — the new order saves automatically the moment you let go.

The Home tab stays locked in first position: you can’t drag it, and no other tab can be dropped ahead of it.

5. Add the Deals or Events plugins if you need them

Want Deals or Events but haven’t installed the supporting plugin yet? Scroll to the section below the tab list, where the wizard offers install buttons:

• Install MAM Special Offers Plugin — enables the Deals tab.
• Install GeoDirectory Events Plugin — enables the Events tab.

Already installed? You’ll see a confirmation label instead (for example, “MAM Special Offers is installed”). Click an install button and give it a moment to finish — once the “Processing…” indicator clears, that tab’s content is ready to use.

Check Deals or Events without installing its plugin first, and the Next Step button simply stays disabled until you either install the plugin or uncheck that tab.

6. Save and continue

Once the tab list looks right, click Next Step: Colors and Branding → at the bottom of the screen.

This click does more than move you forward — it’s what actually commits your navigation. The wizard rebuilds your app’s main navigation buttons from your current tab order and renamed titles right then, and writes them into your app settings. (Behind the scenes, the save also adds a Places directory button so your listings have a home — nothing you need to configure here.)

Verify it worked

• Re-open the App Navigation step. Your renamed titles and your tab order should be exactly as you left them.
• Preview your app using the App Previewer step later in the wizard, or on a device that already has your app loaded. The bottom bar should show your chosen tabs, in your order, with your labels.

If a rename or reorder didn’t stick, head back to the App Navigation step and make the change again — just be sure to click out of the title field (for renames) and advance with Next Step, since that’s what actually saves the navigation into your app settings.
