With MAM BuddyPress check-ins (and The Events Calendar for sessions), GamiPress can award points and achievements for showing up. For example: a “Thursday Regular” badge for 4 check-ins to Thursday sessions, a “Table Host” badge for hosting a table, or an “Ambassador” badge when a friend you invited checks in.
1. Turn on the triggers
Go to Mobile App Manager > GamiPress > Check-in Events, tick Check-in events and save. These triggers appear in GamiPress under “MAM Platform”:
| Trigger | When it fires |
|---|---|
| Check in to a venue | Every new check-in at a check-in location (always available) |
| Check in to a session | A check-in that falls in a session’s check-in window |
| Check in to a session in category … | Same, once for each event category of that session (one trigger per category) |
| Host a table | A member creates a table for a session |
| A friend you invited checks in | A friend who joined from the member’s invite checks in for the first time. The member who invited them gets the credit |
2. Build the achievement
- In The Events Calendar, put the sessions in an event category (for example “Thursday”).
- In GamiPress, create the achievement and add a step, for example “Check in to a session in category Thursday”, required 4 times.
- Clear the GamiPress cache (GamiPress > Settings > Clear cache). New categories appear in the trigger list once created.
Check-ins are counted from the moment the trigger is in use; earlier check-ins do not count.
3. Show badges on profiles
Tick Show each member’s earned achievements as badges on their community profile (section Profile Badges). The member’s MAM BuddyPress profile then carries their earned achievements, most recent first, with title and image. The rewards wallet’s type is never shown as badges while the wallet is on. Showing badges on the profile needs an app version that displays them.
