MAM BuddyPress Overview

MAM BuddyPress connects a BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Platform community to your MAM app. Members, groups, activity, forums and profiles become native app screens, served from your WordPress site. Nothing is copied or synced: posts and replies made in the app appear on the site, and the other way around.

What it adds to your app

Screens (tabs or side-menu items):

Screen What members see Content type
Feed Posts with photos, likes and comments; post from the phone mam_bp_community_feed
Groups Browse and join groups; each group has its own feed and member list MAM_buddypress_all_groups
Forums Forum topics and replies, new topics with photos, followed discussions mam_bp_forum_index
Members A searchable members directory, connection requests, following MAM_buddypress_members

Cards on the Home screen:

  • Profile completion: nudges members to finish their profile.
  • Latest posts: the newest posts from the feed.
  • Your groups: groups the member belongs to.
  • People to meet: members with friends or groups in common.
  • Followed discussions: forum topics the member follows.

Member safety: report and block tools are built into the app screens.

Requirements

  • Mobile App Manager (MAM)
  • BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Platform. Forums need bbPress (BuddyPress) or the BuddyBoss forums component.
  • A connected iOS and/or Android app.

Setting it up

The fastest way is the App Setup Wizard: choose Community app on the first step, then pick your screens and Home cards. See Recipe: Set up a community app with the setup wizard.

You can also add each screen by hand in Mobile App Manager > App Settings by creating a button with the content type from the table above.

Buying

  • MAM BuddyPress Suite: everything above, plus app publishing. Choose this when BuddyPress is your app’s main content.
  • MAM BuddyPress Add-On: the same features without publishing, for an app that already publishes with another MAM Suite or a custom app.

Works with

  • MAM Chat Manager (member messaging)
  • MAM GamiPress (levels, points and achievements)
  • MAM The Events Calendar (an Events tab and an Upcoming events Home card)
