Goal

Your listings screen is the one most visitors open first, so a few small choices here go a long way. In this guide you’ll choose the layout template that shapes your listing rows and cards, decide whether the listings screen shows a map alongside the list or the list on its own, and — if you’d like — swap the horizontal category tabs for a single vertical list.

You’re shaping the most-used screen in most MAM apps, and none of it takes a line of code.

Prerequisites

• A MAM Suite app with mam-main activated.
• Admin access to Mobile App Manager → App Setup (the App Settings screen).
• At least one listings/directory screen already added to your app. If you have not added a listings screen yet, see Add a new screen (button) to your app first.
• A content source for your listings (for example GeoDirectory). The layout and map controls only affect how listings are presented; the data still comes from your WordPress content.

Note: A quick map before you dive in. The labels below match the settings definitions in mam-main. Layout ID, Review Layout ID, and Hide Map on Listing Screen? all live together under the Listings settings group in App Setup. Show vertical categories only? is the exception — it’s a per-screen setting, configured on the individual listings screen instead (see step 4).

Steps

1. Open the Listings settings

1. Go to Mobile App Manager → App Setup.
2. Open the Listings settings group. That’s where the layout and map options live. (The category-display option is configured per screen — see step 4.)

2. Choose a listing layout template

1. Find the Layout ID setting (listing_layout_id).
2. Enter the ID of the listing layout template you want to use. This is what shapes the visual structure of each row in the list — image position, title and subtitle placement, how compact things feel — by choosing which of the available listing layout templates renders your listings.
3. Save your changes.

If your app shows reviews, there’s a matching Review Layout ID (review_layout_id) that works the same way, just applied to review rows instead of listing rows.

One thing worth knowing going in: Layout ID is a plain input field, not a dropdown — you’re typing a template identifier rather than picking a friendly name from a list. The valid IDs depend on which listing layout templates your build supports, so if you’re not sure which ones apply to your app, check with your MAM contact.

3. Decide whether the listings screen shows a map

By default, a listings screen can present both a map and a list together. If you’d rather keep things simple with just the list:

1. Find Hide Map on Listing Screen? (hide_map_on_list_view).
2. Set it to Yes to hide the map and show only the list on the listing screen.
3. Leave it No to keep the map alongside the list.
4. Save your changes.

This is the setting that decides “list only” versus “list plus map.” Turn it on for a clean, list-only directory; leave it off and your visitors get listings in their geographic context too.

Looking for a dedicated, full-screen map experience rather than a map paired with a list? Add a separate Map screen instead. See Add a Map screen and choose your pins and markers and Add a Map screen showing your listings. The hide_map_on_list_view setting only governs the map that appears on the listings screen itself.

4. (Optional) Switch category display to a vertical list

By default, your listings categories appear as a horizontal tab bar across the top of the screen. Prefer a single vertical list instead? Here’s how:

1. On the listings screen’s own settings, find Show vertical categories only? (vertical_directory_list_only).
2. Set it to Yes to show categories as one vertical list instead of the horizontal tab bar.
3. Save your changes.

Because this setting is scoped per screen, it only shapes the listings screen you’re configuring right now. It pairs naturally with the layout and map choices above when you’re going for a simpler, top-down browsing experience.

5. Preview in the app

1. Save all changes.
2. Refresh or relaunch your app preview so it pulls the updated settings.
3. Confirm the listing rows use the layout you chose, that the map shows or hides as expected, and that categories appear as a tab bar or vertical list per your choice.

Re-verify if the Listings settings group is reorganized, the Layout ID field gains a template picker, or the map/category settings change their keys or labels.
