Clear the pre-publish readiness checklist

Goal

This article is about getting your app ready to submit — to the App Store and to Google Play. The Publish App page shows you a readiness checklist with a progress bar, and each item on it is something you can clear yourself; that’s what this article walks through. Once a store’s developer account is connected and the shared App information is filled in, that store’s Publish to App Store or Publish to Google Play button lights up and becomes available; get every checklist item green, and the banner reads Setup complete.

Prerequisites

  • An admin account on the WordPress site (the page requires the manage_options capability).
  • Your MAM Suite account is connected to WP Mobile App Manager (WPMAM) — i.e. the site has a valid account code. The checklist verifies your subscription with WPMAM (the result is cached for a few minutes), so the site must be able to reach wpmobileappmanager.com.
  • For the developer-account steps: access to your own App Store Connect account (iOS) and/or Google Play Console account (Android). You keep ownership of these accounts; you only invite Tiny Screen Labs in so we can publish on your behalf.

Where this lives

Head into WordPress admin and open the Publish App page under the Mobile App Mgr menu — you’ll find the readiness checklist waiting near the top of the page, above the App Store Information, App Icon, and Launch Screen settings panels.

How the checklist is organized

Three sections make up the checklist, with a progress banner at the top keeping a running count of how many are complete:

  1. Developer accounts — have you invited us into your Apple and/or Google developer account.
  2. Subscription & add-ons — are all the plugins your app uses actually purchased and licensed.
  3. App information — app name, app description, and app icon.

Every item shows one of three states: a green check means done, an open circle means to-do (it needs your action), and a clock means pending (it’s waiting on us). Once a store’s developer account is connected and all the shared App information items are satisfied, you’re clear to publish to that store — and because iOS and Android are evaluated separately, you can be fully ready for one before the other catches up.

Steps

1. Clear the “Required plugins” item

This item checks something simple: does WPMAM agree that every plugin your app’s features depend on is actually purchased on your account?

  • When everything’s covered, you’ll see the item read Required plugins purchased with a green check.
  • If something’s missing, the item names the plugin(s) — say, a feature you’ve configured needs a plugin you haven’t licensed yet — and gives you a Purchase on WP Mobile App Manager button, which opens WPMAM checkout pre-loaded with your account and whatever’s missing.

Once you complete the purchase, head back to the Publish App page. The subscription result is cached for a few minutes, so give the item a minute and reload if it hasn’t updated yet. (Activating, deactivating, or upgrading a MAM plugin refreshes this check too.)

2. Connect your Apple Developer account (for iOS)

Until the Apple item is connected, the checklist shows you an email address to invite and walks you through two states along the way:

  1. To-do — Head into App Store Connect and invite the email address shown on the checklist as an admin on your team, so we’re able to publish your app on your behalf. The checklist hands you a Copy button for the email, an Open App Store Connect button, and a View setup tutorial link if you’d like step-by-step screenshots. This stays your own App Store Connect account throughout — you’re always the account holder.
  2. Once you’ve sent the invite, click I Sent the Invite on the checklist. This moves the item to pending — waiting on us — and lets our team know to check that the invite landed.
  3. As soon as we accept the invite and connect the account on our end, the item switches to Apple Developer account connected the next time you load the page. We typically verify and connect within one business day, so there’s nothing more for you to do in the meantime.

Don’t have an Apple Developer account yet? Set one up first using the iOS tutorial linked from the page, then come back and send the invite.

3. Connect your Google Play Developer account (for Android)

The Google Play version works the same way — just swap in Google Play Console:

  1. In Google Play Console, invite the email shown on the checklist as an admin on your account.
  2. Click I Sent the Invite to move the item to pending.
  3. We take it from there — once we verify and connect, the item flips to Google Play Developer account connected.

Only publishing to one store? Leave the other developer-account item alone — that store simply won’t become publishable, and that’s fine, since only one store needs to be connected and ready before you can submit.

4. Fill in the app name

Find App Store Information and enter your App Name — this one name covers both the App Store and Google Play listings. Leave it blank, and the checklist flags App name as incomplete, with a Fill in below link that jumps you straight down to the field. Enter the name and save.

5. Fill in the app description

Same panel, next field: fill in the App Description in App Store Information. One description does the job for both stores, so use it to describe what your app does, who it’s for, and why it’s worth downloading. Until it’s filled in, the checklist flags App description as incomplete — enter the text and save.

6. Upload the app icon

Head to App Icon, choose your icon image, and set a background color if you’d like one. Here’s what the checklist checks for:

  • Your icon needs to be a square 1024×1024 PNG — both stores use it, resizing automatically for every device.
  • Upload something smaller than 1024×1024, and the checklist shows App icon must be at least 1024×1024 pixels until you swap in a large enough image.

One thing worth knowing about transparency: the App Store won’t accept an icon carrying an alpha channel. That’s handled for you — whenever you save a new icon or change its background color, MAM Suite automatically flattens the icon onto the background color you picked, so the file Apple receives comes through fully opaque. Choose a background color that will look right behind any transparent areas in your icon; if your icon is already a solid square, the background color won’t have any visible effect.

7. Save, confirm “Setup complete,” and submit

Click Save App Settings to lock it in. The moment a store’s developer account is connected and all three App information items are satisfied, that store’s Publish to App Store / Publish to Google Play button becomes active in the Publish status card — you don’t have to wait for the whole checklist. The progress banner is pickier: it only reads Setup complete once every item is green, including both developer accounts and the plugin purchase, so if you’re publishing to just one store, don’t be surprised if the banner still says Setup incomplete while your button is sitting there ready.

When you’re ready, click the button for that store. From here, publishing runs quietly in the background on our build pipeline. Builds run Monday–Friday, 6 AM–6 PM Central, and once a submission starts it typically takes 20–30 minutes to upload; you’ll get an email when it finishes. After that, the Publish status card on the same page keeps tracking things for you (“submission in progress,” then later “submitted to Apple for review,” “uploaded to TestFlight,” “live in the App Store,” and the Google Play equivalents).

Troubleshooting

  • A checklist item won’t turn green after I fixed it. That’s usually just the cache catching up — subscription and connection state only refreshes every few minutes. Reload the Publish App page and give it a moment; both plugin purchases and developer-account connections depend on a round-trip to WPMAM.
  • The checklist can’t confirm your subscription or account code. Most often this means the site couldn’t reach WPMAM, so start by confirming the site is online. If the account code stored here has drifted from what WPMAM has on file for this site’s URL, don’t worry — the page re-syncs it automatically (it checks about once a day). Still stuck? Contact support.
  • I sent the developer-account invite but it’s still “waiting on us.” That’s expected — it stays that way until our team accepts the invite and connects the account, which usually happens within one business day. No need to re-send it.
  • Apple rejected my icon for transparency. Re-save the App Icon panel — saving is what re-flattens the icon onto the chosen background. Just make sure the background color you picked isn’t itself transparent.
  • Set your app name and store description
  • Prepare and upload your app icon and launch screen
  • Connect your Apple Developer account
  • Connect your Google Play Developer account

What’s next

Once every item is green and you’ve clicked Publish, the Publish status card on the same page becomes your dashboard — watch it to follow your submission through review and into the stores. From there, you can come back any time to publish updates.
